6. Wooden Pegboard Note Station

Pegboard isn’t only for garages. Cut down to size, framed in wood, and painted a soft color, it becomes a flexible notice board where the layout changes whenever you want.
Materials: a precut pegboard panel, four strips of 1×2 for the frame, pegboard hooks and bins, spray paint or brush-on paint, and a spacer kit so the board sits off the wall.
How to build it: Paint the pegboard and let it dry completely — two light coats beat one heavy one, which can clog the holes. Build a simple frame around the edges and attach it from behind with screws. Mount the board using spacers so hooks have room to seat. Then arrange hooks, a small bin for pens, and clips for notes.
Time: one to two hours. Difficulty: beginner.
Customization: Paint the pegboard the same color as your wall for a subtle look, or go bold with a deep green or navy so it reads as a design feature.
Common mistake: Mounting pegboard flush against the wall. Hooks won’t stay in, and the whole thing feels flimsy.
