8. Round Tray Table with Dowel Legs
Mid-century modern design elements pair wonderfully with small bedroom layouts due to their clean silhouettes and splayed legs. You can easily craft a gorgeous round tray table to serve as your bedside companion using a pre-made wooden serving tray and three or four wooden tapered furniture dowels. Drill angled holes into the underside of the tray or attach mounting plates securely, then twist in the wooden dowels. Paint the tips of the legs in a contrasting accent color, such as matte black or gold, to give it a high-end designer finish. The raised lip of the serving tray is an incredible functional feature for a nightstand, as it completely prevents items like round lip balms, pens, or your phone from accidentally rolling off the edge in the middle of the night. It is lightweight, visually charming, and remarkably easy to build in a single afternoon.
